  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 3/4 cup heavy/whipping cream

  7. Simmer the sauce for 4–5 minutes to thicken.
  8. Pour in the heavy cream and cook a few more minutes until warmed and slightly reduced.

  11. Top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and/or torn fresh basil if desired.

Notes

Salt is crucial for flavor; don’t skimp on it to make the meat and cream really shine., Feel free to add herbs or red pepper flakes for extra flavor and spice., Fresh basil adds a bright herbal note if added at the end., Cheddar cheese can be added for extra melty comfort., Be cautious with cream substitutes; heavy cream works best to avoid curdling., For a smoother texture, use tomato sauce or petite diced tomatoes instead of diced tomatoes., Freeze the sauce separately for best results and thaw before combining with freshly cooked pasta., Reheat leftovers gently on stove or microwave, adding a splash of water or cream if sauce thickens too much.
